We have had the previous generation Philips Avent baby monitor (SCD600/10), and it was excellent, so when baby number two was born, we decided to choose the SCD610 with two cameras, expecting the same level of quality. And quality-wise we have not been disappointed (yet), however we find the new camera has some very annoying issues. So what is wrong? Well the whole point of having one monitor with two cameras is to conveniently monitor two babies at the same time. And that means, like in the previous model, you want the monitor to keep the screen off until there is noise near the camera, at which point the monitor and speaker should turn on instantly to alert me as a parent that the baby/babies crave my attention. However, I have not been able to set this up on the SCD610 monitor. Being an IT expert, specializing in usability for many large corporate and government websites I sure hope its not my fault. What happens on the SCD610 is that it finds both cameras, and lets the user switch manually between them using the arrow keys. And it also seems to allow me to switch of the screen until noise is heard FOR THE CURRENTLY SELECTED CAMERA. But if there is noise at the other camera it will not switch to that camera, basically forcing me to continuously switch camera manually to keep both babies under control. So either it is LACKING A CRUCIAL FEATURE or it has HORRIFIC USABILITY. I am hoping for the latter, and I intend to find out through a series of elaborate google searches after this review is done. If this feature is in fact missing, I will go back to the shop where I bought it and return it for a refund, because that makes it utterly useless for conveniently monitoring two babies. What else? The documentation is a CD (!!) requiring that you have access to a computer with flash player installed. I mean, seriously? What if I only had a tablet? OR what if I didn't have flash player? NOT good. The strap in the corner may look cool, but the screen will be tilted to the side if you hang the monitor up. The belt-clip of the previous model was actually better. The menus are really unintuitive and uninspiring. The picture quality on the screen has actually gone down from the last version, which was rather crude already. Where are the "view my baby from android or ios device" feature? Where is the "update software now" feature? We wish the soothing music would also be part of this monitor. It was something we used all the time on the old model. This is something I feel is not new to Philips; excellent build quality and features, but sometimes gaping holes in the usability/stability, especially for their software! My Philips TV for example has great picture quality, and the ambilight is awesome. Because of this I would not trade my TV for any other, but all the smart features such as the youtube player are provocatively slow, buggy and hard to use considering what I paid for it. So this is a 3/6 overal for now, and I might come back and give no stars at all if we find the most important feature of all is lacking.

Hello, i bought the product 2 weeks ago and i found it waste of money! I would rather buy cheapest ones that will work better than this! I can only use the device inside the room !! Otherwise the connecticon is always lost when i leave the room! So it is totally useless!!

This baby monitor is a complete waste of money. First of, the camera must always be plugged to the power supply which is not ideal as it gives so little room to install it. Second, the reception range is a joke. When the camera is 20m away it disconnects and displays that it is out of range....20m!!! So the image disappears and you can't see your baby anymore. Complete garbage, don't buy.
